Hey Gang, it's getting to be that time of the year and not too early to think about travel plans for JIBE 2010, Wednesday May 12 through Saturday May
15.

Registration will be up in a couple of days.
Someone who just booked tells me that the Quality Inn just north of the event is filling fast with a few rooms left.
We have a brand new Hampton Inn & Suites open just this month about 3/4 mile south of the event. It is dog friendly up to 15 lbs.
JIBE site has links to all hotels via Jeckyll Island web site.
If planning to camp, book NOW. Campground spaces fill early and there is no overnight parking elsewhere on the island (except hotels of course)

We have participants from as far away as Maine this year; a new record.
The parking lot just south of the Blackbeard's parking (JIBE site) with the handicap ramp to the beach and the bathrooms will be closed for
construction of a new park. Blackbeard's Restaurant is state-owned so bathrooms and whole facility is public access. The beach will be untouched by
construction of course.
Island parking is $5 per day now, up from $3.
Winter- all three weeks of it - is leaving and it is getting warmer. The sea breeze kicks in soon....

Registration fees same as last year. Register with or without dinner and extra dinner tix available. Ask me about young kids- I might find an
accommodation (kid's menu).
There will be new T-shirts; last year's still are available.
We are still benefiting the Sea Turtle Center and tours will be available Saturday morning. Even if you have been, there are always new patients, new
stories and new science to learn about.
Ground Industries will be there wit their latest stuff.
Other vendors pending.
Gonna be a great year!

Sounds like more and better every year Angus. Put me down for a couple of shirts since I can't make the trip this time. It's a little further than
it has been. I found out during the move that Wexler has a jar of Jekyll Island sand. When he brought it home from JIBE 09 it seemed like yet
another silly thing for him to keep in his room but I can't walk in his room now without reminiscing for a second when I see that jar. Smooth, flat,
wide and 3.5 miles long with smiles from the authorities. As nice as any beach can be in my book.

Added a few tidbits and updates, including a kid's menu ticket for the Friday night dinner ($6), since we will have more young family members this
year to share in the fun and Island activities (beyond the buggy, if you can imagine).
The Jekyll Island Authority is psyched and ready to pull out the stops for us. They felt the traffic last year (and marveled at the ripstop in the
air ) and were really pleased. Blackbeard's will provide Ice again.
More new names and faces in the registrants, which is always encouraging.
More sponsorship info to follow.
