What a waste of resources

Pulled the tracks off the GPS. Amazing how little of that lake we use. It's weird....our general winds are NW/N (those are the good days anyway) so by rights we should be able to rip end to end here.

Of course the lake gets crazy shadow channels...you'll be cranking along and the wind will just drop. That's the point we turn around but I have to wonder what would happen if you rode through.....might have to try.

Garmin eTrex Venture HC. Way more GPS than I really need.

I use even less of the lake here

what I find really interesting is when we head over to some larger lakes and there is a clean wind, how many guys stay fairly close and kite in a pack and a very small hand full go out for really long runs. You can always mark your way home by the pack of kites in one place on the horizon.
Nice to see the tracks .

Same here - guess either nobody else can go upwind or they don't like the idea of swimming back in

I like a little of both.

We don't have space as a rule so snowkiting is a treat ! I take off and explore but then enjoy sharing / comparing as I ride with the folks I'm sharing the day with.

It is amazing how much the wind changes as you cross a lake. That is why depower is so handy.

Nothing I like better than heading off exploring as most times I'm by myself crowding is not an issue....lol
Lesser Slave Lake is 108 km's long, so no reason to go the same place twice.

got a message from a buddy that went to the big lake north Of Toronto and left his Ozone Manta, harness and things on an ice screw and went for a long run with his Libre - came back and everything but the ice screw was gone and sled tracks beside it - another reason to hate some snowmobilers. I don't how many times over how many years we've left gear on a plastic sled and headed off across the lake. Exploring is fun especially when it starts to warm up and is sunny and the air is smoother and a back pack with a couple of beer ...

Early on I was advised to never ride further out then I was willing to walk back. Keep that thought in mind if you push through the wind shadows.

it all about the free ride. if the space open gotta go check ALL out

mother nature is bringing it to you. why leave any part out

i am definitely one of those out to the horizon riders. the view helps keep the mind clear.

get out and ride !
