Stolen Beamer

brplatz - 19-11-2009 at 06:26 PM

Well guys, my car was broken into last night.

Luckily the only things in there were my Kiteboarding helmet and HQ Beamer IV 3.0m.

The police came over, make a report, and took fingerprints, but I'm not all that hopefull.

Ill be checking craigslist everyday to see if i can snag it back, but chances are not looking good.

Sad to see people have to do this.

Dude that blows! Thank god the Synergy wasn't in there ...!

If it was the Syn, it would be considered a Felony!

Man I really feel bad. If I see it around anywhere I'll let you know.

This keeps happening to people. I need to get the stuff out of my truck.

Do you guys have kite related stickers on your car?
Do you think they were going after the kite gear or just random idiots stealing what ever there dirty hands can grab?

brplatz - 19-11-2009 at 09:13 PM

vwbrian, yes I do have a couple powerkiting stickers, but I think it was someone from my school cause the broke in, then just grabbed the kite and helmet. Not my expensive glasses or stereo or anything up front.

I have flown my kite at lunch at the school field, which most people can see, but I'm not doing that anymore

Sorry to hear this Brian
I'm afraid that the only solution is not to leave stuff in your car if you have to leave it outside of a locked garage. This happens a lot recently recently in our subdivision. The irony here is that a high percentage of our neighbors are federal law enforcement officers - everything from ATF to NCSI - and they are often the ones leaving stuff in the car in t driveway, sometimes unlocked. They have wised up now and a handful of thieves have been caught [insert sound of bolt action here], but it still happens in these tough times.

Yours does sound like school kids though, and that sucks even more.

Yep...seems like the holidays bring out the thieves...sorry to hear about the theft...kinda makes the neighborhood feel less safe : (

Alb, NM brings back memories...passed through there a few times when I was living in Taos. I didn't kite back then but often think about the area....there were so many open areas and I do remember it being pretty windy at times...keep rockin the Synergy!!

I have one of those loud, jiggle-activated alarms to secure to my gear in the back seat. But I never bothered with it yet....maybe now I will. It's REALLY loud! (I have another one to spare, if anyone's interested - it's quite sophisticated!)

Sorry to hear about the break-in, brplatz. My wife and I used to live in NM. I bet the winter winds there are great for kiting. Take care not to let strangers know when you have kites in the car. I often have my kites in mine, but I'm hoping that the tinted windows combined with general ignorance about power kiting will keep mine safe (and my windows unbroken).
