NO Concessions ON OREGON BEACHES

USA_Eli_A - 2-9-2009 at 09:43 AM

Here is a friendly reminder regarding Selling anything on Oregon Beaches!

If you are planning on coming down here to sell anything, make sure you receive payment for the goods prior to coming to the beach, or I will with my friend from the Oregon State Police.

OUR beach is not a 'taco stand' and I expect everyone to follow the rules regarding cocessions! If I see money passed, I'll ask you to seperate from the group, so the police don't ruin it for the Rest of US!

Respect my back yard, or go find another place to play!
There are local businesses barely surviving with the economy affecting coast more than anywhere else!

Do NOT come down here and undercut the local business! And sell your kites for Wholesale!!!

Camp is not a good place to conduct biz, all biz matters should be quiet and private!

'No nudity allowed here and there are no concessions of any type at Oregon Beaches. There are toilets in the day use area up the hill in the wooded area of the park.

Be careful there are no lifeguards on duty at this fee free beach."

So a naked hot dog cart is not a good idea in Oregon.

thats what got us busted in the first place, it was all good until someone forgot to shave

revpaul - 2-9-2009 at 02:23 PM

What!!???
R U talking about selling 'NEW' stuff or 'USED' stuff? Or, does it matter?
I have only been to a few small local kite festivals and I'd say they weren't much more than a temporary place for vendors to set up shop and 'SELL' stuff.

I imagined an event like SOBB would be a hundred times cooler than the local kite fests because there would be way cooler gear there and from past experience I assumed the gear would be available for sale.
So, SOBB is just a place to gather/meet then? Fair enough.

USA_Eli_A - 2-9-2009 at 02:34 PM

PLEASE MAKE TIME TO BUY AND SHOP PRIOR TO COMING TO SOBB, DEMOS ARE OK, BORROWING GEAR AND FLYING BEFORE BUYING IS COOL. JUST DO YOU BIZ OFF THE BEACH SO WE DON'T GIVE ANY REASONS TO LOSE OUR ACCESS.

IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL ON THE BEACH! THERE ARE SHOPS THAT NEED THE BIZ, IT IS AN OREGON STATE LAW!

IT'LL BE ENFORCED.

IN THE PAST THERE HAS BEEN SECRET SHOPPERS SENT DOWN TO INQUIRE ABOUT BUYING GEAR. DO IT OFF THE BEACH, DO IT QUIETLY AND PRIVATELY!

NO ADVERTISING EITHER, DECORATIVE FLAGS THAT SAY JOJO, PETER LYNN WHATEVER ARE ALL GOOD, SOMETHING THAT SAY.
WWW.BUY#@%$#!HERE.COM ISN'T COOL!

THIS IS SOBB, NO AN FN SWAP MEET OR GEAR SWAP. THERE IS CULTURE AND RESPECT. A PLACE TO COME VACATION AND RELAX + EPIC RIDING!

PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS AS A RANT, PEOPLE COME AND GO, BUT A LOT OF US STAY AND WORK TO KEEP IT PEACEFUL AND FUN FOR EVERYONE.

SOBB isn't an " event " like NABX.

More of a gathering. A chance to meet some of the pioneers and get some education. Duck Farts to!

It's nice to get to try some new kites but it's all about sharing. Most of the folks who go are already pretty brand loyal so it's not about trying to sell the kites and knowledge. It's all about sharing them.

The only Pansh rep I know is Dakitze. HE IS WELCOME !!!!! We won't hold it against Him!

revpaul - 2-9-2009 at 08:00 PM

SOBB IS A MEET/GATHERING EVENT. FAIR ENOUGH.

kitejumper....that is funny

Let my try and help out on this one.

Almost all of USA_ELI's posts seem harsh, but it is just because he is so enthusiastic about the sport. He's been doing this a long time and has probably dealt with a lotta crap over the years. I see his comments as someone trying to protect his home turf. If your favorite spot could be taken away by visitors unwittingly buying or selling gear during a kiting event wouldn't you try to put the word out?

I know his comments seem harsh but just put it into perspective. But trust me, his intentions are good.

Thanks Snowbird I feel the love

But you will be happy to know I am no longer dealing Pansh. I guess its been about 6 months or so. I finally came to the conclusion that you can not help someone who does not want to be helped. But even if I were still selling them and they were the only kites in my bag I would still be there flying them along side all the other kites and having just as much fun as everyone else. I'm not brand snobby if you have a kite ... I will fly with ya. I don't care what kind of kite you fly

Caution:

Lending money to your friend on the beach can be Dangerous!!

" hey Bob lend me 5 bucks, I want to go into town and support the Locals"

click click

"DROP THE MONEY AND PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR"

Before you know what happend you getting carted away by the "SOBB special swat team task force against Conncessions on the beach"

That's what I'm talkin about. Thank you Dakitez for the all inclusive lets have fun flying kites attitude.:thumbup::yes:

Bladerunner - 3-9-2009 at 06:21 AM

I enjoy going out with all sorts of kites but I think it has been clear that when I fall for a type of kite I get behind it. I'll surely be seen with my old love ( flysurfer ) and if I'm lucky the new Libre. I enjoy flying them all.

SOBB gives me an chance to fly these other kites. It used to be we had to go to SOBB to fly JoJo but now we have some so I suppose this event influences sales. It is the Fly part of " fly before you buy " . The business part is thankfully not on the beach.

Personally I just wish he wouldn't use quite so many capital letters sometimes. All the shouting makes my eyes hurt

Possibly, Possibly. Though I know some people who just hold down the shift key when they want to type in caps.
