Somebody summon the wind gods

FloRider - 15-8-2009 at 11:05 AM

Well it seems like forever since we've had wind, but the forcast has a base wind of 13 knots this afternoon which I crossing my fingers for. Hoping for that + a bit more.

If someone can do a wind dance :singing:. Or summon the wind gods I would appreciate it.

Any takers?

hot tip: the more public the dance, the better!

:P

oh just remembered: go to your spot and take a really really fragile low-wind dragonfly r/c thingy to fly out there and leave every single one of your kites behind.

that should work...

vaguely remember that from a story scudley told on here once...

not sure that's quite how he told it

Thanks furbowski, I'll try that one. So far we've got about 10 kts, and its just not enough for what I want to do with my 15m PL synergy.

Lets kick it up a notch baby! :Ange09:

yeah those arcs sound great but it seems they do need a good bit of wind to perform!!

guess you're doing something on the water, good luck!

The fickle Wind godz hide beneath the billowing skirts of the Storm gods during this season. You must be on your toes to ferret them out betwix the darkened skies and thunder.

As furbowski notes, on calm, clear days They must be invoked. Or rather, provoked. Always carry frisbees, boomerangs, gliders, mini-R/C planes and like vehicles of the calm air with your kite gear.

After failed attempts at low wind kite launches, fully pack your kite gear and then withdraw one of the abovespoken toy sacraments - defiantly held to the sky.

Wind will then surely come. If you and a co-invoker can get your timing down, one can appease while the other can quickly unpack the kite bag again. The resulting silent comedy chaos may catch the Fickle Ones off guard long enough for you to sail for a moment or two.

Hahahahaha! I have definitely found that packing the kite up on light wind days will bring wind. Even thinking about packing it up works sometimes.

It's a scientific fact

Awww man. Sputtering sparrow farts.

furbowski - 15-8-2009 at 09:36 PM

I just checked the wind sensors at my 2 spots.
ZERO kph of wind at both

If we had any less wind it would truly suck!!!!!!!

lad - 16-8-2009 at 09:12 AM

then you gotta resort to this

(Still looking for the other vid where windless guys were doing relay races using their buggies like wheelchairs and hobble-walking on their landboards potato-sack race style!) :singing:

I'm going to start a world-wide webcam service that only shows the top leaves on the local trees in each location! :tumble:

increase the fidelity on google earth and make it real-time, and there you go!
